This brick church replaced the original Church of England, a timber building which was built in 1871. The Jabiru Geneebinga Wetlands, on the corner of west St and Queensland Rd, is a sanctuary for native birds and wildlife, with picnic facilities and public toilets. Head to the Platypus Pool for a chance to spot one of Australia’s most elusive and iconic creatures. Located just a short walk from the town center, this serene environment is one of the few places in the world where you can potentially see platypuses in the wild. Early morning or dusk are the best times to catch a glimpse of these shy animals.
